Old Beestonians

Old Beestonians are a varied and diverse group, but they all share the life-long bond of being an OB (Old Beestonian). These friendships are enduring and OBs gather often informally and – increasingly – formally. Many have their own children at the school and express huge loyalty.

OBs are important to us. We are always delighted to hear your news and views and welcome you back to events here. If you’re in the area, do pay us a visit, just to remind yourself what a special school Beeston is! We regularly invite OBs to come into school to share their career stories and life experiences, to inspire children at assemblies or other evening events.

In order for us to be able to contact you with news and information, we have to ask for your specific consent. Without this we are unable to contact you. To give your consent, please click STAY IN TOUCH

As an OB, you may be interested in the school’s admission process for your children or grandchildren, if so, please see our Admissions page. We are keen to see if we can top the already healthy 30% figure of OBs with children at the school.

Welcome from the Chair, Lottie Webster

Welcome to the Old Beestonian page on the website. The OB Society was established in 2002 with the publication of the first ‘Old Beestonian’ magazine. The Society was set up by Innes MacAskill , the school’s fourth Headmaster, and Cliff Vincent, one of its iconic masters who taught P.E. between 1971 and 1995. We aim to produce the ‘Old Beestonian’ at least every two years and, with your support, more often.

As the new Chair, appointed in December 2021, I am very aware that Tony and Elaine Richards are a very hard act to follow. Having said that, I hope I am well qualified –  I am married to an Old Beestonian, have had three of our children through the school and am now enjoying my role as a Governor of the school.  I feel very strong bond with Beeston and it is a great privilege to be able to help build the Old Beestonian community.

The Old Beestonian Association has three aims:

  • Assist in maintaining links and friendships between OBs and re-establishing contact between lost friends.
  • Encourage past pupils to stay in touch with Beeston, record their news and keep abreast of news and developments at the school.
  • Continue to build the wider Beeston community by keeping in touch with former staff, parents and grandparents of OBs.

I very much look forward to this role and encourage you to get in touch if you would like to get involved.

We are proud to have launched The Beeston Foundation in October 2017 which raises funds for bursaries for children who might otherwise never have the opportunity of a Beeston education and in addition for planned capital projects, details of which can be found on our website. If, as an OB you would like to give a donation this should be directed towards the Foundation which is the main fundraising arm of the school.

We always enjoy your letters and emails – if you appreciate receiving and reading the OB magazine, please continue to send us your contributions and news which are invaluable for its future success – we love to hear how you are getting on.

Do visit whenever you are next in the area, and see how Beeston thrives today.

Best wishes to you all,
