A leading day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 4 - 13 yrs set on the idyllic North Norfolk Coast

Our presence as a nimble, nurturing school came to the fore, with powerful effect, as we delivered a Beeston education remotely and then achieved a regular return to school of 87% of the children.

By the final week of the term 95% of the children had returned. We even managed live, socially-distanced end of term prize-givings, which were then edited together as a virtual event for all. I will never forget the sound of clapping coming from a laptop on a chair, as our two Beestonians in Hong Kong took part!

We are incredibly proud of how the children adapted to the new regime of separate bubbles, one way systems and social-distancing. They were helped by the return to school videos we produced, in advance of the phased returns, and the careful planning to ensure safety and hygiene throughout the site.

Whilst the school was forcibly closed, we offered personal online meetings and virtual tours. We have become experts on Zoom, break out rooms and Google Meets! We are pleased to continue to offer Virtual Visits to prospective families. Virtual Visits provide families with the opportunity to look in more detail and speak with our Head Master, Fred de Falbe, and the Head of Pre-Prep, Bec Cowan, as well as a range specialist subject teachers and members of the Senior Leadership Team. The Beeston website and YouTube channel give families a vivid taster of life at school and a springboard for questions and conversations both virtually and when you come.

We are now also conducting socially-distanced tours of the school. We hope that before too long we will be back to having our senior children showing you around the school of which we are so proud.

To book your Virtual Visit or socially-distanced tour please contact our Registrar, Viv Farnell.

As a parent, and in fact as a doctor, I have been hugely grateful for the measured, calm approach and I have been nothing but impressed with the way Beeston has responded and risen to the challenges posed by COVID 19.

Our remote timetable was centred around the principles of being personal, structured but flexible, to enable families to accommodate the new and complex working arrangements that faced them. Our staff were exceptional in creating and delivering comprehensive programmes to all year groups, striking a balance between academic development and physical and mental wellbeing, which is taken very seriously at Beeston.

From daily engagement with tutors, a high percentage of live lessons and – with the younger ones – the crucial weekly one-to-one meetings with parents, we were able to support fully home learning. With timetabled classes for wellbeing, independent projects, class challenges, plenty of outdoor and exercise time and virtual choir and play performances we prepared the ground for phased returns which were a huge success.

The photos and videos on our Instagram and latest news will give you a flavour of the variety of work that has been going on.

We are enormously proud of what has taken place in these remarkable months and look forward to welcoming  back students in September, confident in our ability to respond swiftly and effectively to change.

I have been bowled over by the way in which the school has responded to the current crisis. What you’ve achieved is incredibly impressive, and in such a short period of time.Well done Team Beeston!
