This morning Year 6 embarked on a trip to visit Castle Acre. The reason for the visit is that they are now studying the castle building programme undertaken by the Normans after the conquest of England in 1066. Castle Acre is a fine example of this with its wonderful earthworks. We explored the site from top to bottom. A particular highlight was imagining what it would have been like to attack the castle in armour when it seemed quite a challenge getting up the slope in mufti without anyone trying to stop you! The children managed to get suitably grubby and I hope that they took a lot from the morning. I would like to thank Miss Porter and Mr Corbishley for their support in ensuring the trip happened and the kitchen staff for superb elevenses.
