Beeston Sailing rises above the waves!
It has been a hectic couple of weeks since a group of valiant sailors travelled down to the South coast to represent Beeston at the IAPS Sailing Regatta. However this was a trip of many firsts, and so Mr Means felt the successes deserved proper recognition.
This was the first time that Beeston has been represented at U11 level, as well as the first time that a female crew has also competed. Great credit must be given to Molly W and Henri C for competing amongst 40 other boats in winds up to Force 5; even more admirable was that they completed all three races without a single capsize! Henry M and Harry P also did the school proud by achieving 2nd place overall in the U11 competition against GB and Regional level sailors.
The final notable first was for Joshua M and Rory P who were able to improve on last year’s 5th place and win the overall U13 title. This is a great coup for a small prep school in North Norfolk as this event includes many of the largest schools and more pertinently many South Coast sailors who have access to both high levels of coaching and facilities. They should be justly proud of becoming IAPS U13 Champions.
Closer to home, we are looking forward to our own Regatta on June 28th at Wroxham Broad. Along with some light-hearted racing there will be a celebratory tea at the clubhouse as well as a few prizes to be awarded. We just need to book some good weather to accompany the strawberries and cream!
