02/12: Chapel Choir leads Advent Service at Cromer Church

The Advent Service at Cromer Parish Church has become an annual event for the Chapel Choir and it is always an honour to sing in such a magnificent building.

On Tuesday 1st December the Choir led the service for what is one of the most symbolic times in the Christian Calendar, Advent. The church, compared to ours at Beeston Regis, is large and it is a challenge to fill it with chorus, but that is exactly what the Chapel Choir did and how beautiful they sounded. Milly Richards, Tilly Fleming, Octavia Townsend and Romilly Stuart began the service with a very poignant rendition of “From a Distance”, a reminder to us all that, in these war-torn and troubled times, there is a greater spirit watching over us. The full choir followed, singing the very beautiful “Angel’s Carol” by John Rutter. Solos by Head and Deputy Choristers Milly Richards and Teddy Clifton were superbly sung, before the choir split into perfect harmonies.

Following the lighting of the candles for peace and remembrance, the Choir sang the “Candlelight Carol”, a gentle yet uplifting Advent carol which describes the candle as a light to shine a path for all. A beautiful solo by Romilly Stuart introduced the piece, with the full choir echoing her words in harmony.

Greatly deserving of some delicious refreshments at the end, the Choir munched to the max before returning to school, full of mince-pies and the true message of Advent.
